Toddler Shoots Mom Dead With Unlocked Gun While She’s On A Work Zoom Call

A 21-year-old mom was shot and killed by her toddler who got a hold of an unlocked gun in the family home. Shamaya Lynn of Altamonte Springs, Florida was on a work Zoom call when the tragic accident occurred, and her colleagues watched on as she lost her life.

  1. The toddler shot their mother in the head. Lynn’s colleague, who was on the call, called 911 after “they saw a toddler in the background and heard a noise,” Altamonte Springs Police Department said in a statement. The colleague further revealed that Lynn “fell backward and never returned to the call.”
  2. She was dead by the time police arrived. When officers and paramedics responded to the scene, they found Lynn dead in the apartment with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Police said the injury “was caused by a toddler who found a loaded handgun, which was left unsecured by an adult in the apartment.” There was also another toddler present in the apartment at the time.
  3. Detectives are continuing to investigate the situation. Police say that detectives are working closely with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office concerning any charges which may be appropriate for the owner of the firearm.” According to WESH-2, the gun was traced to the children’s father.
  4. This is not the first time something so tragic has happened. In 2021 alone, there have been 220 unintentional shootings by children. Of those 220, 83 people have died. What is going on here?!
