One of America’s most beloved actors, Tom Hanks, was seen on video telling a rowdy fan to “back the f— off” after they bumped into his wife, Rita Wilson, and nearly knocked her down. The video has gone viral since appearing online earlier this week.

  1. Hanks and Wilson were simply walking when the fans started to get rowdy. At one point in the clip, Wilson trips and then turns to the group of fans and tells one of them to “stop it.” That’s when Hanks steps in.
  2. Hanks is very protective of his wife. After Wilson talks to the fan, Hanks begins yelling, “[That is] my wife, back the f— off” before continuing to walk away.
  3. Who could blame Hanks for his reaction? No one. As one fan pointed out, Hanks “momentarily, and understandably, loses his nice guy persona, as over-eager fans practically knock over his wife Rita Wilson.” Another retweeted the headline about the video, adding: “BREAKING: tom hanks reacts like a normal human being.”
  4. Fans need to learn to respect celebrities. Just because you like someone’s movies, shows, or albums doesn’t mean you get to harass them when they’re out in public. It’s obnoxious at best and downright dangerous at worst.
