Unexpected Perks That Come With Being In Love

Sometimes it’s hard to not get a little bit sappy about your boyfriend. Now I know we’re all independent women here, but no one is immune to love — especially when it’s reciprocal. Here are some unexpected perks that come along with being in love:

  1. Knowing that you’re wanted. Is there anything better than that “I’m imagining you naked and I want you right now” look he gives you when you’re all dressed up for your weekly date night? I don’t think so.
  2. Intimacy is better when you love the person. Kissing and sex are way more amazing when you have a connection with your partner. It means more and feels better, too. Love and intimacy is the best combination.
  3. Feeling special.Nothing quite like a guy that surprises you with a dozen long stem roses at your office on your anniversary. Those little reminders that you are important and special are amazing and just the boost your day needs every once in a while.
  4. Falling asleep in the passenger seat.Heaven on earth is driving home late from some party when your boyfriend is driving. You drift off into a sleep, and then all of a sudden, you magically wake up to him lightly tapping you and letting you know that you’re home.
  5. Having someone to run errands with.Running to Walmart to pick up toilet paper and dental floss is always more fun when your boyfriend’s with you.
  6. Not having to do annoying stuff alone. Is there anything worse than struggling to carry a heavy box of junk up a flight of stairs or waiting 45 minutes to get your oil changed? No, there’s not. A man that loves you will carry that box and wait at that mechanic shop because he’s a gentleman and because you asked nicely.
  7. Knowing someone thinks you’re beautiful when you’re definitely not. You wake up with your boyfriend every morning with a retainer in and he still gives you that “I love everything about you” look? An unexpected rainstorm hits and your perfectly flat ironed hair turns into a curly frizz ball from hell and he tells you that you look amazing? That’s love, people.
  8. Getting special occasion cards. Some men, like my boyfriend, are men of very little words — but you put a Christmas or anniversary card in front of them, and their loving and kind words spill out on paper like water.
  9. They love who you love. He’s not phased by people like your annoying little cousin or your opinionated best friend? He’s not bothered by their quirky personalities (or at least he pretends not to be) and loves them because they make you happy.
  10. Your success is his, and vice versa. You got a promotion at work? He’ll be there with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate right there with you. You’re a team, and that feels good.
  11. Watching The Notebook or The Bachelor and not feel even a little bit jealous.Because your love really is that great and nothing else compares.
