A man who killed his 7-week-old son for crying has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Clint Nokes, 22 and from Utah, is said to have beaten the infant, named Hudson, to death because he “exploded” in anger on multiple occasions between November 26 and December 1, 2017, according to KUTV.

  1. Nokes committed the murder when he was only 19. He pleaded guilty in court to the charges, which laid out in detail the terrible trauma Hudson experienced before his death. The child’s injuries included “broken bones, a fractured skull, spinal damage, detached retinas, and other injuries” and a scan “showed a skull fracture, bleeding in the brain, and detached retinas.”
  2. Hudson’s mother is said to be “heartbroken.” Nokes is said to have been the “primary provider” for the baby and rushed Hudson to the hospital on December 1, 2017 when he noticed the baby wasn’t breathing.
  3. Nokes claimed he had tried to save Hudson’s life. When Nokes took the baby to the hospital, he told doctors that he’d done everything he could to revive Hudson, which was a lie. He also told them that Hudson became unresponsive when he was trying to burp him after feeding and when he pulled him away, Hudson had gone limp. However, it was clear by the bruises on his head and ribs that Nokes’ story was a lie.
  4. He eventually confessed to what he’d done. Nokes told police that he “exploded” and threw Hudson on the couch for crying. He then said he grabbed the baby by the leg and carried him by it out of his swing. He then “grabbed the baby, held him in front of him, and jumped up and down, which caused the baby’s head to go back and forth.” Police documents also show that Nokes dropped Hudson onto his head in the kitchen sink earlier that same week.
  5. He’s now spending 15 years behind bars. To be honest, I don’t think that’s nearly enough for someone who’s capable of doing such horrific things to another person, especially an innocent, helpless baby.
