Woman Says Her Vibrator Nearly Burnt Down Her Apartment And She’s Lucky To Be Alive

A woman on Reddit has revealed that she nearly burnt down her apartment after leaving her vibrator plugged in. Taking to the Confessions sub, themangoninja shared that everything was fine until the sex toy turned on while she was sleeping and nearly sparked a fire. Seems like she had a lucky escape!

  1. OP was super drunk when the incident happened. As she shared in a post, “I woke up with the thing going beside me because I got super drunk last night and rolled on top of it which flicked it on. It’s completely melted and my whole apartment smells like burnt plastic.” Yikes!
  2. The toy could have sparked a serious fire. OP went on to say that she feels lucky to have escaped alive and without her apartment going up in flames. Had she not woke up and unplugged the toy, things could have gone much differently. “I honestly think it was minutes away from setting my whole apartment on fire, which is both embarrassing and terrifying,” she wrote. “Moral of the story always unplug your vibrator smh.”
  3. Many people advised her to contact the company that made the toy. As one user pointed out, at no point should a vibrator be able to overheat and produce a fire, and the company that made it needs to know about it. “That’s very dangerous and not up to hazard standards. These things should go through testing to ensure safety of use, and that doesn’t sound like it passes. Might even be able to get a refund, since you say it was expensive!” the commenter suggested.
  4. Strangely enough, other people had experienced the same thing. As one user shared, “I learned my lesson when my wand, plugged in for days, suddenly leapt into the air, shooting flames. Thank goodness I was home and in the same room.” That’s so scary! It really is important to ensure these toys are unplugged after use and that batteries are removed if they’re going to be stored for any amount of time. Stay safe out there, people!
