Victoria Beckham Fans Horrified To Learn She Keeps Her Ketchup In The Cupboard Instead Of The Fridge

Victoria Beckham has horrified fans by revealing that she keeps her ketchup in the cupboard rather than in the fridge where it rightly belongs. The former Spice Girls singer posted a photo of herself on Instagram this week drinking from a monogrammed mug while sitting on the counter of her walk-in pantry. While she likely never even considered that this photo could be in any way scandalous, the comments section has gone crazy with people who just don’t get why her condiments aren’t being chilled.

  1. Props for an organized pantry, first of all. All of the products in Victoria’s pantry are very neatly lined up and organized, so she gets credit for that. I cannot say the same for my kitchen cabinets, which are so overpacked (I like to cook!) and stuffed that half the time it takes ages to take what I’m looking for. Hers is very tidy, which I think we can all appreciate.
  2. Seriously, though, why isn’t that ketchup in the fridge? Many of the comments on Victoria’s post were from concerned fans who wanted to know why that damn bottle of Heinz ketchup wasn’t being chilled like it’s supposed to be. If you’ve ever read the back of the bottle, you’ll see that you are instructed to refrigerate after opening. “Great photo! Ketchup should be kept in the fridge!!!” one person wrote.
  3. Technically speaking, you’re not going to die from unrefrigerated ketchup or anything. Ketchup is quite acidic, so generally speaking, you should be okay with keeping yours out of the fridge. However, shelf stability depends on a lot of different factors including ambient texture, so Heinz does recommend you keep it chilled.
  4. There’s always the possibility that the bottle hasn’t been opened yet. Perhaps one explanation for why Victoria Beckham’s ketchup is in the pantry instead of in the fridge is that it’s a backup bottle and that it’s not even open yet. Maybe they’re working through another bottle at the moment that’s in the fridge? Here’s hoping!
