Why A Night Out With The Girls Is Better Than A Date

Dating is great if you’re going out with someone you really like and with whom you might actually develop a relationship, but it can also be stressful and more trouble than it’s worth, especially if you keep going on disastrous ones. It can be hard not to feel down about not having a guy to spend your Saturday night with, until you remember that you’ve got the best group of girlfriends out there, and a night out with them is better than any date there is.

  1. You never have to feel uncomfortable. Your friends already know the good (and not so good) stuff about you and they like you, so the pressure to come off a certain way is nonexistent. You’re free to be yourself, so take a breather.
  2. No one makes you laugh as hard as your best friends. The stuff you guys laugh about wouldn’t even actually be funny to anyone else half the time, but for some reason, it just is to you.
  3. They appreciate your sweaty dance moves. And if you ruin your hairdo, it’s fine because you’re not trying to impress anyone, anyway.
  4. There are no awkward moments with the check. Either you split it or you trade off on who pays. It’s a simple system and no one gets hurt.
  5. You get to decompress after a long week. It’s not like you’re going to rant about your job on a first date, but your girls are the perfect sounding board to get your vent on and let the day go.
  6. You don’t have to worry about shaving. A bit of day-old stubble on those stems poses no complications when there aren’t any men on the near horizon.
  7. You can just hang out on the couch. With a guy, an in house date has its implications, but with the girls it’s an opportunity to wear sweats and veg out in front of the TV, and isn’t that better?
  8. They’ll help you stick to your diet (or break it), no questions asked. You don’t really want to explain to a date that you’re only consuming liquids this week. Your girls get it and are there to support you.
  9. You always have a bathroom buddy. Bathroom lines can be time-consuming, so you might as well make use of it for some quality gossip time.
  10. They love you without expectation. Romantic feelings can be complicated (and communicating about them even more so), but with the girls, there’s no shortage of love going around, and you know it’s genuine.
  11. Your friends can deal with you in your bad moments. They’re not going to judge the surprise tear fest that escaped from you at dinner. A date, on the other hand, might not be so chill with your inconsolable weeping.
  12. You can indulge in pointless gossip. Guys hate drama (or pretend that they do), and often fail to see the entertainment in discussing the strange outfits your coworker wears on the daily.
  13. They understand how the female body works. Even if you felt like telling a guy about your period cramps, he could just never truly appreciate your pain. The girls, on the other hand, not only get it, but have some suggestions for interesting natural treatment options you haven’t tried yet.
  14. You can Instagram to your heart’s content. You start to get antsy if you don’t update your Instagram regularly, and on girls night, the photo shoots come standard, no matter what you guys are doing.
