Wine Floats Is The Grown-Up Way To Enjoy A Childhood Favorite

Growing up, having a root beer float on a hot summer’s day was the best. It was a classic childhood treat that we don’t often have as adults (at least I don’t). However, why should kids get to have all the fun? Why not take this to adult territory by replacing the soda with wine and having a wine float?

  1. Yup, you heard me right. Wine floats are root beer floats with wine instead of root beer. Pretty simple, right? Just get your favorite ice cream, scoop some in a wine glass, pour some wine over it, and you’re off!
  2. The customization options are endless. There’s no one particular wine you have to use to have a wine float. If you prefer red, go with that. Like whites or rosé? Either of those will work too! Given that ice cream (which can also be whichever flavor you’d like, though I recommend vanilla) is pretty neutral, it’s up to you which “flavor” of wine you put with it.
  3. You don’t have to skimp on the toppings either. While you probably don’t want to go with classic ice cream toppings like Oreos or nuts, there are still plenty of toppings/mixers that will go well with the wine float. Why not add some frozen blueberries or raspberries? Strawberries or kiwi? You can even add some syrups in.
  4. These aren’t just for summer. While root beer floats are generally reserved for summer, wine floats can be enjoyed any time of year. Turn your heating on, get on some cozy PJs, and get making your dessert drink to enjoy on the couch in front of the TV. They’re great for any time of year and are also creative offerings at your next party. Just sayin’.
  5. I don’t know why we didn’t try this sooner. Maybe wine floats have been around for a long time and I’m just late to the game, which sucks. At least I know about them now – and I’m about to go make one now!
