Woman Arrested For DUI Told Black Police Officer ‘I’ll Get Away With It Cause I’m White’ Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

A 42-year-old Nashville woman arrested on suspicion of DUI allegedly told a black policeman, Officer Ronald Conner of the Metro Nashville Police Department, that she’d “get away with it cause I’m white.” Tammera Megan Lee’s brazen statement was recorded as part of an arrest affidavit submitted by Conner.

  1. Lee was caught driving her car into a private parking lot. The lot was a secure one meant only for members of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Lee had followed another car into the lot at Davidson County Old Annex Building to try and gain entry and was stopped by a member of staff. However, when that staff member noted how intoxicated Lee was, they decided to call the police.
  2. When Conner arrived, he asked Lee to step out of the car. He noted in his affidavit that “the defendant was unsteady on her feet and had difficulty standing.” He added that she had a “strong odor of alcohol coming from her person and being expelled through her breath” as well as “bloodshot watery eyes.”
  3. Lee admitted that she’d been drinking when asked. She also agreed to perform a field sobriety test but soon “became very irate and would not listen to verbal directions.” When she was again asked if she would take the sobriety test, she replied: “F*** you.”
  4. She was cuffed and read her rights. Lee only responded with more profanity, and officers then noticed that her car was full of “several alcoholic beverages ranging from seltzers, beers, and IPAs,” all of which were in plain sight. When they asked her about the drinks, things took another turn.
  5. Lee became “more belligerent” and began telling Conner that she would “get away with it” because she’s white. Conner noted that he arrested her because of the “likelihood that the offense would continue and due to the defendant being a danger to herself and others.” She was booked into Metro Nashville Jail on February 20.
  6. Lee will appear in court on April 1. She’s due to answer her DUI charge as well as a charge of violating the implied consent law when she appears at Davidson County General Sessions Court this spring.
