Woman At Bar Amused After Being Described As ‘Girl By Herself’ On Drinks Receipt

A Baltimore-based cake artist was out for drinks one night and having a great time… until she got a rude awakening when she received her bill. On the receipt, Chamia was described as “girl by herself,” leading her to share a photo of it on Twitter, much to the amusement and annoyance of her fellow social media users.

  1. Was there no other way to describe her? “This description was so disrespectful,” she captioned the photo, along with a bunch of crying emojis. While she was totally being tongue in cheek by putting the picture up (no one’s ego is that fragile, guys!), it does beg the question as to whether there was another descriptor that might have been slightly less rude.
  2. She wasn’t even by herself! Perhaps what’s even more ridiculous about this whole thing is that as Chamia told Bolde, she wasn’t even on her own – she was out with an entire dinner party! It was this fact that made the whole thing even funnier to her, since not only was the server clearly lazy with their descriptions but they also clearly weren’t paying attention.
  3. So many people have been described rudely by servers. In response to Chamia’s post, other people came forward to reveal that they’d been described in even worse terms by servers. One guy shared his receipt on which he’d been referred to as “Lil Ugly Dude.” Another man was called “raspy voice guy.” What’s wrong with these servers?
  4. Some people didn’t see the big deal. One person responded saying they didn’t get why anyone would be offended by this. “Why disrespectful? Seems a simple way to help the waiters identify guests they are serving. How else would you like them to describe you – colour of hair, clothes. Only in the US do you get so hung up on all this. We’ve got bigger issues to be thinking about than this petty one,” one person commented. Again, Chamia wasn’t actually upset or “hung up” on this. She was actually kind of amused by it and thought it was funny so she shared. Since when does everything have to be so serious?
