A Florida driver who crashed into an apartment complex is said to have blamed the collision on her dog and told police to arrest the animal, the Daily Commercial reports. Witnesses to the accident in the city of Wildwood told police that 33-year-old Christina Anne Marie Lamoreaux hit the building and then left and entered her apartment, according to the Daily Commercial. It wasn’t long before she was caught.
- Lamoreaux admitted she’d been driving the vehicle. However, she blamed the whole thing on her dog and said that she only left the scene because she planned on paying for whatever damage she’d called.
- She suggested police arrest the dog. While it’s unclear how exactly the dog caused the accident as Lamoreaux never made that clear, she did tell officers that if anyone should be arrested, it was the animal, not her.
- Unsurprisingly, she wasn’t sober at the time of the accident. Police noted that Lamoreaux smelled of alcohol when they spoke to her and seemed extremely confused. She also refused to perform a sobriety test and became hostile when officers tried to arrest her.
- Lamoreaux was arrested and taken to Sumter County Jail. She was charged with DUI, hit and run involving property damage, and resisting arrest. She was released after posting $2,500 bond. The dog remains free and has not been charged.
