Woman Blocks Boss’ Number After He Keeps Contacting Her Out Of Work Hours

A woman on TikTok has gone viral after she revealed she blocked her boss’ number because he refused to stop contacting her on her personal phone outside of work hours. Vanessa, who posts as @wealthxlab, said she was at home after taking a sick day but her boss wouldn’t leave her alone.

“I just blocked my boss so he couldn’t contact me while I wasn’t at work,” she said in the video. “I’m at home, sick from work today and for some reason, he felt the need to text me about work tasks.”

Vanessa says in the clip that she pays $45 Canadian a month so she can have a separate phone for work and personal use. Her boss knows he shouldn’t reach out to her on her personal line, but “he still does sometimes.” Since he can’t seem to respect her boundaries, Vanessa took matters into her own hands. “So today I blocked him,” she reveals in the video.

Lots of commenters have come out in support of Vanessa, saying more people should feel empowered to draw the line. “I don’t blame you. He’s not your friend and you’re not working,” one person said. Another added: “Girl, all of mine are blocked because they don’t respect anyone’s boundaries. Love to see it!” A third offered a bit of advice to Vanessa, writing, “I would be telling HR ’cause there’s no reason he should have your personal phone number.”

Other people wondered why Vanessa even has to pay for her work phone. After all, shouldn’t that be a cost the business absorbs? “Everyone at the company uses their personal cell phones as work ones. The phone cost is ‘worked into the salary’ apparently,” Vanessa explained in response.

More people should feel empowered to do what Vanessa did. Bosses should respect people’s boundaries more!
