Woman Calls Out Man Who ‘Had The Audacity’ To Take 2 Work Calls On First Date

A woman on TikTok has sparked a debate after revealing that a man she was on a first date with “had the audacity” to take not one but two work calls. Kelsey, who posts as @kelceybligh, uploaded a video about her experience to the app in which she actually filmed her date across the table chatting away on his phone.

  1. Who does that? It doesn’t matter what kind of high-powered job you have and how “busy” you are. When you’re on a date with someone, especially a first date, you should give them your full attention.
  2. One call might be forgivable, but two? As Kelsey captioned her video: “On a first date, this man had the audacity to take not only one but TWO business calls…Is this a joke?” The man can be hard in the video talking to someone about “flooring options” and “luxury vinyl” that “looked nice.” In other words, doesn’t sound very important.
  3. Some people think the man was trying to impress Kelcey. According to some commenters, they believe the man took phone calls to appear important and to convince Kelcey that he was something special. “1000 percent trying to ‘impress,'” one person wrote. “The right thing to do would be to explain the importance of the call to you, apologize, then step away for a second.”
  4. A lot of people believe Kelcey should have gotten up and left. One person described the man as “insufferable” while another claimed: “I would have left.” To be honest, maybe Kelcey was just too much in shock to have processed it at that point.
  5. Some people did stick up for the guy. One person thought the man “sounds like a contractor” and that it could very well be part of his livelihood to take calls at all times. Nevertheless, Kelcey said that “no explanations or apologies were made” for taking two calls right in front of her. He also didn’t think to perhaps excuse himself from the table to take them instead of sitting there.

What do you think? Is this acceptable behavior? What would you have done?
