A Florida woman who was caught with methamphetamine told police she believed the substance was beach sand. Jacklyn Suzanne Stacey, 29, was pointed out to police by a Destin shop owner who said she and a man she was with had previously stolen items from the shop and were in the process of doing so again. However, when officers spoke to the pair, they discovered more than just stolen goods, NWFDailyNews reports.
- Stacey was crouched at a display with a bag open between her legs when police arrived. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies asked her to step outside and she agreed. Asked if she had any stolen items in her bag, Stacey insisted she didn’t and offered police to search her bag.
- Officers believed she may have stolen jewelry. While searching the bag, authorities found a Crown Royal bag they believed Stacey may have filled with jewelry from the display she’d been crouched in front of inside the store.
- Then they saw the drugs. When deputies found a small plastic bag containing what they believed to be meth, Stacey is said to have “quickly grabbed” the bag, saying, “I use that for my face.” She then told officers they could no longer look through the bag.
- Stacey was arrested for drug possession. Following her arrest, she told officers that she’d found the bag of meth along the side of the road while walking from the beach and she believed it was full of beach sand. She’s being charged with possession of a controlled substance.
