Woman Seen ‘Chatting On Phone’ In 1938 Video ‘Proves Time Travel Exists’

A video has gained traction online in which a woman appears to be talking on a cell phone. The problem? The clips dates back to 1938, way before cell phones were even a thing. The video likely has a totally innocent explanation, but it’s led many people to believe that time travel is real and that the woman was from another era.

  1. It’s hard to tell what the woman is holding to her ear. Because the clip is in black and white and wasn’t exactly high definition, it’s hard to tell what the woman is holding. Nevertheless, she appears to be leaving a factory of some sort with a group of other women.
  2. The clip first popped up all the way back in 2013. YouTuber Planetcheck uploaded it back then, claiming that the woman in question was her aunt, Gertrude Jones, per Yahoo. She explained what was going on in the video, and it makes much more sense than time travel.
  3. Gertrude apparently worked at Dupont. Planetcheck said at the time: “She was 17 years old [when the video was filmed]. I asked her about this video and she remembers it quite clearly. She says Dupont had a telephone communications section in the factory. They were experimenting with wireless telephones. Gertrude and five other women were given these wireless phones to test out for a week. Gertrude is talking to one of the scientists holding another wireless phone who is off to her right as she walks by.”
  4. So, why was the phone never made until more than half a century later? Planetcheck couldn’t say for sure, but there are plenty of products that never actually make it to market. “Maybe they decided it was too far advanced for people and they abandoned the idea. The Romans invented concrete. But it was quickly forgotten and not invented for another thousand years later. Ideas are hatched, prototypes are made and sometimes like this phone they are forgotten until somebody discovers some long lost film of the world first wireless phone and marvels at it.”
  5. Some people still insist there’s a much eerier truth. While Planetchek’s story sounds totally plausible, many commenters aren’t buying it. “I’m quite sure it wouldn’t be that small, the device she is holding is the size of a modern cell phone, ones in the early 80s needed to be carried in a briefcase and later were huge bricks,” one person wrote.
