With COVID closing many businesses down and social distancing still firmly (and necessarily) in place, some services have been unavailable or much more difficult to book in, such as dog grooming. When Brazilian hairdresser Susana Soares noticed that her Mano, her pet Yorkshire terrier, had hair growing over his eyes, she decided to put her skills to work and give him a haircut herself at home. That didn’t turn out quite as she planned…
- The hair was getting in his eyes! I know this well – I also have a Yorkie and their hair does grow in such a way that it makes it hard for them to see well if it gets too long. Susana was simply trying to help Mano be able to see better. Now he has bangs!
- A dog with bangs! That’s hilarious! One look at the photos will tell you just how well the haircut turned out! This look would work incredibly well on a human, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen a dog with bangs, that’s for sure. Even Susana herself found it hilarious, telling The Dodo that she “fell on the floor laughing” when she looked at the finished result. I can’t say I blame her!
- Mano doesn’t know any different anyway. Susana says that Mano is pleased with his new ‘do, particularly because it’s functional even if not entirely fashionable in the canine set. He can now see clearly and that hair won’t be annoying him anymore, so it’s actually kind of a win-win situation in his book, I’m sure!
- Susana will be taking him to the groomer moving forward. While she’s a wiz with the scissors and probably gives some amazing haircuts to her human clients, at-home dog grooming isn’t for her and the next time Mano needs a haircut, he’ll be going to see a professional. Ah well, it was a great effort!
