An Arizona woman was gobsmacked to learn that her husband had fathered her best friend’s baby after noticing the newborn had the same very rare birthmark as her betrothed. Hailey Custer, 28, is a mother of four from Wickenburg and thought she and husband Travis Bowling, 36, were in a good place. However, it turns out he was not only cheating, but doing so with Hailey’s closest pal.
- Travis was a serial cheater, according to Hailey. She claims that during their six years of marriage, he cheated on her with at least 30 other women. He even had two other children with a couple of them!
- Hailey never would have expected her best friend to be one of them. “I heard rumors that my friend was pregnant and homeless, so I reached out to her. I felt the need to help her,” Hailey told Caters News (via NY Post). “We had just got home from the hospital and I was changing the baby and when she turned her neck the birth defect popped out. When they’re babies it is really hard to see, and I wasn’t looking for it.”
- Hailey just knew when she looked at her friend that she’d been betrayed yet again. “When I found out my friend was standing next to me, I looked at her and you could just tell. She couldn’t say anything, she just dropped her head and looked to the floor, and I just knew,” she recalled. There were no words that were said, I just knew. “I was in a lot of shock in the beginning. I couldn’t even process what had happened, it was almost like a stage of grief.”
- Hailey took on a fatherly role with her friend’s baby. Before realizing that the baby belonged to her husband, she was there nonstop for her friend. “I was there for her every step of the way. Even in the hospital, I wore the daddy wrist band, when she got her epidural, she laid on me. I actually gave the baby her first bath,” she recalled. No wonder she was even more hurt when she learned the truth!
- She’s since forgiven her friend and is still civil with her ex-husband. While it must have been incredibly difficult for her to deal with, Hailey prayed on the situation and is doing what she believes to be the right thing. “For me, I was in a state of shock for a little bit. I walked outside when I first found out and just prayed,” she said. “I kept hearing the words over and over in my head, ‘bigger picture.’ For me that meant ‘stop with your tunnel vision.'” She’s a better person than me!
