An Australian woman risked her life in order to save a few beer kegs from floating away in the ocean during a dangerous storm. Beaches along the Gold Coast in Queensland have been dealing with strong winds and heavy flooding resulting in many items being swept away into the tide. However, a woman at the Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club wasn’t about to allow kegs of beer to be taken in the process and jumped in to save them.

  1. She’s been dubbed a “local heroine.” The woman appeared in a video broadcast on 7 News, with many immediately branding her a “local heroine” for her dedication to the beer. The woman herself proclaimed that there’s “nothing like the ocean” and that it’s “pretty spectacular,” which I think we can all agree on.
  2. The beaches are something to behold. The current weather conditions have resulted in huge piles of foam on the beaches, some up to a meter high. People have come from miles away to photograph them since they’re pretty cool, but that doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous. In fact, a few dogs have gotten lost after wandering through it.
  3. Apparently, this happens a lot in Australia. Well, kind of. A local photographer told 7 News that the phenomenon comes around every couple of years and present a “pretty spectacular occurrence.” Once the high tide goes out, it was expected to take all the foam with it.
  4. Thankfully, no one was hurt here – not even the beer kegs. It seems all’s well that ends well, and both the woman who jumped into the ocean and her precious cargo were both just fine. Hopefully she’s gone somewhere safe and dry to enjoy it!
