A woman on TikTok has been praised for fulfilling one of her dad’s dying wishes by sneaking rum and coke into the hospital for a final drink. Pennelope Ann, who posts as @penface, shared a video of her cheeky adventure on the platform, and many were heartwarmed by her thoughtfulness.

- Pennelope’s dad passed away earlier this month. He suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and sadly his lungs were unable to cope any longer. However, she made sure to make the most of her time with her dad before he died.
- Pennelope sneaked a Bundaberg rum and cola drink into her dad’s hospital room. She captioned her video: “One last drink with dad before his spirit returned to the universe. Until we cross paths again old man. I love you.” In the clip, she revealed that she “came prepared for the send-off” before she decided to “give him a little taste.”
- Her dad was overjoyed with the drink. In the background of the video, Pennelope’s mom tells her dad: “We brought you rum, Dad. We’re going to put it in [a syringe] and put it in your mouth.” After he gets a sip, Pennelope asks him if it tastes good, to which he enthusiastically nods.
- Pennelope’s TikTok followers praised her for making her dad’s final moments special. “I’m a Palliative Care Nurse and this is brilliant. May he Rest In Peace,” one person wrote. Another added: “Everyone deserves family like this around them at the end. I’m so sorry for your loss.” A third commented: “As a nurse, I couldn’t love this anymore. Send him out in style! Sorry for your loss.” Others came on to share their own stories of bringing drinks and other comfort items to their loved ones in their dying moments. It just goes to show you how much we need the people we love, especially when the chips are down.
