I think I speak for us all when I say that I’m beginning to appreciate nature a whole lot more now that I’m trapped indoors most of the time. I’ve always loved fresh flowers and enjoyed walking through lush gardens, and now that I’ve discovered the “world’s most beautiful flower garden” known as Keukenhof in The Netherlands, I have a new bucket list destination.
- Keukenhof is known as the Garden of Europe. Located in Lisse, The Netherlands, Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens and certainly the most beautiful. It’s situated over 79 acres and boasts more than 7 million flower bulbs planted annually.
- The park is known for their tulips but they have plenty of other flowers. While tulips are certainly the highlight of Keukenhof, the flower garden has plenty of other beautiful plantlife on offer including hyacinths, daffodils, lilies, roses, carnations, and irises, among others.
- The garden is open for eight weeks a year. Keukenhof’s flower garden opens annually for eight weeks, from mid-March to mid-May. Last year saw more than 1.5 million visitors alone! Obviously the garden is closed this year due to the current global health crisis, but that gives you plenty of time to plan for the 2021 season.
- It’s easy enough to get there from Amsterdam. Keukenhof’s flower gardens are in South Holland, just south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. To get there, you can take a bus from Haarlem or even get there directly from Schipol airport. It’s super easy!
