10 Things That Don’t Determine Your Self-Worth

You’re more valuable than you think. That’s why you should stop putting yourself down, just because you’re not the stereotypical version of a “perfect” woman. Never assume that you’re worthless, because these vain things don’t actually determine your self-worth:

  1. Your relationship status. Some of the sexiest women alive are single. Some of the biggest bitches you’ll ever meet are in happy relationships. Whether or not you’re attached has nothing to do with your character or self-worth.
  2. How much money you make. As long as you’re doing what you love, money shouldn’t be an issue. After all, it isn’t everything. All that matters is that you have enough to survive, not if you have enough to buy three extra cars that’ll collect dust in your driveway.
  3. How many likes you get on Instagram. Maybe your friends are away from their phones. Maybe you used the wrong tags. Maybe everyone else just has horrible taste. It doesn’t matter why your selfie isn’t getting likes on Instagram, because it has nothing to do with how beautiful you are.
  4. The number on the scale. As long as you’re not endangering your health by being too skinny or heavy, don’t bother stepping on the scale at all. A number shouldn’t determine how happy you are with yourself, so take away its power by tossing that scale in the trash.
  5. How many friends you have. It’s better to have a group of close friends than to keep in touch with dozens of people who don’t give a damn about you. So don’t feel bad if your phone never blows up with texts, or if your number of Twitter followers is still in single digits. No one else cares.
  6. If you’re a mother. It’s time to stop believing that a woman’s sole purpose is to have kids. If you choose to stay single, and refuse to become a mother, it doesn’t make you any less of a woman than your neighbor with a handful of kids.
  7. How good your grades are. Your grades don’t determine how smart you are. They simply determine how well you understand the material your teacher presented to you. Failing a class doesn’t mean you’re any dumber than the students around you. It just means you have a different set of knowledge.
  8. How close you are to your family. Forget about all of those men who want to marry a woman who’s close to her family. You might have been raised by abusive parents that don’t deserve your attention, so why would you keep in contact with them? You don’t need to be close to your family in order to be considered girlfriend material.
  9. How old you are. Sure, most men prefer younger women. However, that doesn’t mean you lose your value as you age. Life experience comes with wisdom, after all.
  10. How beautiful you are. Your looks have nothing to do with your self-worth. It doesn’t matter if your hair is always knotted and your brows are never on fleek, because your outer beauty has zero correlation with your inner beauty.
