New York State Police have issued an amber alert after a 9-year-old girl went missing while riding her bike during a family camping trip. Charlotte Sena and her family were staying at Moreau Lake State Park in upstate New York on September 31 when Charlotte wanted to take a solo loop around the picnicking field to show what she was capable of doing. Sadly, she never returned.

  1. After 15 minutes, her family became concerned. According to New York Governor Kathy Hochul during a press conference on Sunday, October 1, Charlotte started her loop around 6:15 p.m. after telling her family “she wanted to go around one more time by herself” and “be that big girl.”
  2. Charlotte’s family and other campers went out to find her. After she didn’t return, it didn’t take long for everyone to set off in search of the little girl. By 6:47 p.m., the police had been called in and “over 100 personnel deployed and 75 law enforcement on the ground” have been looking for her ever since. While they located her bike, Charlotte was nowhere to be found.
  3. Police fear the worst has happened to Charlotte. The amber alert was issued when authorities came to believe that the 9-year-old had been abducted. “PLEASE SHARE! NYSP has activated AMBER Alert for a child abduction that occurred near Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort, NY at about 6:45 PM on 9/30/2023,” the New York State Police said in a statement. “Anyone with any information should call the NYSP at (518) 457-6811 or dial 911.”
  4. Authorities insist they won’t give up until they find her. “We are leaving no stone, no branch, no table, no cabin unturned, untouched, unexamined in our search to find Charlotte,” Hochul said. “I promised her parents we will find her daughter. She’s all of our daughters. Their family needs love. They need prayers.” She added: “Hearts are broken here today in New York. Hopefully, there’ll be a reunion. Hopefully, they’ll be a family that has been traumatized, but as reunited. That is our prayer and our hope at this time.”
