Bartender Shares Clever Way He Cuts People Off From Alcohol When They’re Too Drunk

When people go out drinking, it’s no surprise that many end up doing so to excess, getting way too drunk to the point that it could be embarrassing at best (we all have or have been the annoying drunk friend!) or dangerous at worst. People who are so wasted that they can barely walk certainly aren’t aware of how much they’re drinking, which is why one clever bartender has devised a clever way to cut them off. Benji Spears (@benjispears) shared a video of his trick on TikTok, and it immediately went viral.

In the clip, Benji can be seen laughing and chatting away as he appears to make another cocktail for a drunk customer. However, while he holds the bottle of alcohol over the glass and seems to be pouring, there’s nothing actually coming out. Instead, he’s filling the glass with non-alcoholic drinks like soda water and lime.

“When your drunk bestie is insisting on another drink but you know they have to work in the morning,” he captioned the clip, adding that no, he doesn’t charge customers for these drinks. That wouldn’t be fair!

People immediately flocked to the comments to share their support for Genji’s method, with one person writing, “You are a good friend and bartender. Good looking out!” Another added that they’d been on the receiving end of this trick several times themself, writing, “My best friend’s parents owned a bar and the amount of times they tricked us because we were already so drunk.” A separate commenter agreed, writing, “One of my girls did that to mom so many times and I was like, ‘This is so good.’”

Surprisingly, not many people seemed particularly bent out of shape about this. While yes, everyone should be able to drink as much as they want, that’s not true when you could potentially harm yourself or someone else because you’re so wasted. People like Benji are doing God’s work!
