Couple Loses Thousands Of Dollars After More Than Half Of RSVP’d Wedding Guests Don’t Show Up

What was supposed to be the happiest day in a couple’s life turned into a nightmare for one pair of newlyweds after more than half of the guests that RSVP’d to the ceremony failed to show up. Gray Narvaez-Dragion, 18, and their husband, Nyx Narvaez, were devastated to see so many empty seats on their big day.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Gray shared a clip of the venue, captioning the clip, “88 people said yes… not even 40 showed up.” By their accounts, this made most of the $27,000 they spent on the event a total waste.

  1. Their dream wedding turned into a disaster. They later added that they ended their reception early and canceled the dinner and private dance they had scheduled since there were so few people there. “Ended reception early, nyx’s family immediately left after pictures, my mom didnt say a single word to me until my dad made her, canceled my dream send off, canceled dinner at my favorite place, the DJ felt so bad he made us use the photobooth I hadn’t touched and took pics together, we fell during our first dance… my mom deadnamed me at my own wedding too,” they wrote in a follow-up clip.
  2. The guests she invited were people she loved. Perhaps most hurtful was the fact that the people who failed to show up to the wedding were close friends and family members. “Every person we invited wasn’t random; we loved every single one very dearly,” Narvaez-Dragion said, according to Insider. They added that one guest even texted them the morning of the wedding saying they were excited to attend, only to ghost when it came to it.
  3. The couple lost out on a lot of money. They said they lost $2,500 of the $3,000 they spent on food, a DJ, and gifts for the guest. They also said in the comments of their TikTok video that they “can’t afford our own food after I got fired,” leading to even more regret over the event.
  4. They’re still happy to be married. All that aside, here’s hoping that Gray Narvaez-Dragion and their new husband Nyx Narvaez have a long and happy marriage!
