Elderly Couple Who Complained About Loud Airbnb Party Next Door Hit With Restraining Order Arizona Family News

There have been many arguments against Airbnb properties over the years, with many complaining that not only is it taking housing away from those who legitimately need it, but that the owners of said properties fail to take responsibility for the disruption caused by their death. Linda Bliss and Mark Honold from Phoenix, Arizona experienced this first-hand recently and were even hit with a restraining order when they dared to speak up.

Linda and Mark just want a quiet life.

They’re retirees and have worked for many years. This is the time in their lives when they just want to chill and enjoy a more laid-back lifestyle. However, that hasn’t been possible thanks to the house next door being rented out as an Airbnb property.

The Airbnb is always hosting loud, rambunctous parties.

According to the couple, the parties are a regular occurrence and they go late into the night. As a result, they’re unable to get proper sleep and their peace is disturbed.

They’ve called the police five times.

Talking to Arizona Family News, Linda and Mark say they’ve reached out to the Phoenix Police no less than five times to complain about the loud parties. They’ve even complained to the property manager about it, claiming they feel they’re being held “hostage” in their own homes because of it.

The property owner eventually sought a restraining order against Mark and Linda.

Despite the fact that the couple says the noise is unbearable and that guests at the property look into their back yard, Mark and Linda are the ones who faced legal action. Linda believes this is because at one point, she shouted at the guests to quiet down. “It was very demeaning because I’m licensed by the state of Arizona for insurance, working with children, the elderly, and they came and treated me like a criminal,” she said.

The property manager is sticking up for themself.

They claim that Linda and Mark are the only neighbors that complain, and that all guests are screened before they’re allowed to come and stay. Not only that, but they also claim that loud parties are banned. This obviously isn’t going to end well.
