Florida Woman Arrested After Allegedly Using Cat To Batter Her Girlfriend Pinellas County Sheriff's Office

A 53-year-old Florida woman was arrested this week after she allegedly used a cat to batter her girlfriend. Susan Freudenthal is said to have gotten into an argument with her female partner before picking up their cat, putting it next to her girlfriend’s face, and “swore on the animal’s life that she was not cheating.” Needless to say, the cat was none too pleased about being manhandled and scratched the girlfriend’s face.

  1. Police were called to the couple’s home soon after. While the girlfriend is understood to have experienced minor lacerations to her face due to the cat’s extremely sharp claws, you wouldn’t necessarily think that counts as a crime. However, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office disagreed.
  2. Freudenthal was arrested on domestic battery charges. Officers cuffed her and took her from the Largo home over the incident. However, Freudenthal didn’t think she’d done anything wrong. In fact, she thought she’d been pretty hard done by in the whole situation. “Upon taking the defendant into custody, she said that she was the true victim,” an arrest affidavit obtained by WFLA noted. “The defendant was polite and compliant.”
  3. Freudenthal was released on her own recognizance. This appears to have been her second arrest for domestic battery since March 2021, though it’s unclear what the previous incident entailed.
