Florida Woman Devastated After Authorities Confiscate Her 400-Lb Pet Pig, “Pork Chop”

A Florida woman is beside herself with grief after her 400-pound pet pig, Pork Chop, was confiscated by authorities. Officials said that animal is dangerously obese and needed immediate care from a veterinarian to save its life, per CBS News Miami. However, owner Kelly Jacobson is struggling without her beloved pet.

Animal Care and Control came and took Pork Chop away.

They led the animal into the back of a truck and drove off, leaving Kelly Jacobson full of grief and confusion about what comes next.

“I don’t know what else to say about that. They took Pork Chop away from me,” she said through tears.

“And I fought a lot of people for a long time to keep him, and people are taking him away from him.”

Jacobson and Pork Chop created quite a scene.

As he was taken away, Jacobson said the pig wasn’t necessarily welcome in the neighborhood and that those who lived near her expressed displeasure at Pork Chop’s presence.

“It was quite a distraction. I do know that they heard it across the street squealing,” she said.

Whether or not neighbors are the ones who alerted authorities to Pork Chop’s weight or not has not been revealed.

Annette Wrubleski, who runs a pig sanctuary called Laughing Pig, believes all hope is not lost for Pork Chop.

“It’s going to be a long process so if he can’t walk and he can’t, he doesn’t have that activity level to exercise, but it will come in time,” she said.

It’s unclear whether Pork Chop will be sent to the sanctuary to live in the long run.
