Florida Woman Found Eating Sandwich In Multi-Million Dollar Home She Moved Into While Owner’s Vacationed Lee County Sheriff's Office

A Florida woman was arrested after she took up residence in a multi-million dollar home while its owners were away on vacation. Luisa Villa, 54 and from Fort Myers, squatted in the Bonita Springs house along with her dog, according to The Miami Herald. She was discovered eating a sandwich in the kitchen.

Luisa Villa was discovered by a maintenance worker.

When the worker went to check on the house, he came upon Villa and got quite a shock. He immediately noticed a suitcase near the front door and heard Villa’s dog barking when he walked in.

After calling the owners to reveal his discovery, they called the police, who swiftly dispatched officers to the scene. There, Villa was found “eating a sandwich” while wearing one of the owner’s Athleta dresses.

Villa claimed she owned the house.

Instead of immediately fessing up to her crimes, Villa told cops that she just bought the house. However, she was unable to provide documents that proved her ownership, instead handing over fake paperwork.

“There were three different pieces of paper with ‘Certificate of Ownership,’ all of which had the same notary stamp,” a police report read. “None of the documents presented were an official deed or bill of sale. Nor did any documents have the proper state seal on them.”

It’s unclear how Luisa Villa gained access to the property.

Officers noted there were no signs of breaking and entering. Villa didn’t offer any details, though she did admit to stealing the owner’s dress and offered to reimburse her the $180 for it.

Villa was arrested and taken to Lee County jail, charged with burglary, larceny, fraud, and resisting an officer. She’s being held on $21,500 bond.
