Genius Pig Escapes Slaughter By Leaping Out Of The Back Of Truck Headed To Abattoir

Sadly, we all know that a lot of livestock is raised specifically to be slaughtered for food. While many people don’t agree with this process, it’s one that happens the world over and is unlikely to stop anytime soon. However, one clever pig wasn’t interested in becoming bacon this time around and managed to escape the truck carrying him to the abattoir by jumping out.

  1. The pig jumped over the backs of two others to freedom. According to ITV News, the male pig was being driven to an abbattoir in Holsworthy in the UK by farmer Sarah Allan when he made the escape. It was only an 11 mile journey from the farm in Langtree where the animal had been raised, but sometime during that trip, he got out.
  2. Never count the little guys out. The pig that escaped was the smallest of the three being transported, which makes his feat even more impressive. “We couldn’t believe our eyes – somehow he must have climbed up on top of the other two pigs and leapfrogged out. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Allan recalled.”Thanks to a lovely farmer at Milton Damerel we have got him back but he’s a bit bruised and feeling sorry for himself and so we are taking him back home.”
  3. He tried to escape again! Even though Allan decided to take the pig back to the farm instead of to the abattoir, that didn’t stop him from trying to make a run for it again. While Allan was giving an interview after they got the pig back the first time, she had to ask the reporter she was talking to for a minute as he tried to break free. “Hang on – he’s hanging out the back! I will have to ring you back,” she said.
  4. Now, the pig may end up being a pet instead. Instead of being taken to the slaughterhouse, Allan admits that given the pig’s stressful ordeal, she’s considering just keeping him on the farm as a pet. “I’ve never seen anything like it. This pig just doesn’t want to be in that trailer. There is a small gap in the top of the trailer but it’s much higher up than his height,” she explained. “The other two pigs have gone to the abattoir and will be sausages. But now that this one has been bruised he might end up staying with us as a pet.” Looks like his breakout was worth it!
