Johnny Depp Will Appear In Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Fashion Show, Apparently

In major “WTF?” news today, Johnny Depp will apparently appear in Rihanna’s upcoming Savage X Fenty fashion show. Acording to TMZ, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star and alleged abuser will take part in the brand’s upcoming Vol. 4 show and will even get a “star segment” all to himself. The only question is: Why?

  1. Johnny Depp’s appearance in Rihanna’s show is a first. He’s apparently the first and only dude in the brand’s history to get the spotlight in a Savage X Fenty show. Isn’t that special? TMZ also claims that his part has already been filmed, so the deal is done and dusted.
  2. How did this even come about? Apparently, “both sides were super excited to make it happen.” In fact, Rihanna was so into the idea that she apparently asked Depp herself to join in on the show. This whole story just gets stranger and stranger.
  3. It’s ironic, considering Rihanna’s past. No one needs a reminder at how badly Rihanna was abused by Chris Brown when they were together. So, to choose to feature and even celebrate an alleged abuser in your brand’s show seems a bizarre choice, to say the least. Whether or not she personally believes that Depp is innocent, it is a bit of a smack in the face to other abuse victims, no?
  4. People on social media are pretty put out by the whole thing. As one person cheekily remarked: “Rihanna really saw a man that hasn’t used shampoo in months and put him in a fashion show I can’t.” Another questioned: “Crazy to me. Literally in what world. Where is her team? Her publicist? HER BRAIN?” A third wrote: “Rihanna going out of her way to, like, rehabilitate the image of a domestic abuser and rapist is f**king crazy cause the hell is Johnny Depp, a rapidly decaying corpse, going to do at a LINGERIE SHOW? But even past all that, does she even know her audience?” She either doesn’t, or she simply doesn’t care.

The Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 show will be on Amazon Prime on November 9, if that’s something you’re interested in.
