Lizzo Welcomes Drag Queens On Stage At Tennessee Show Amid State’s Drag Ban

When it comes to standing up against prejudice and bigotry of any kind, Lizzo isn’t shy about speaking her mind. From calling out “delusional” fans who comment on her body to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, the “Good as Hell” singer is the ally we need. Her recent show at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee was further proof of this. Despite the state having a drag ban in place, making public drag performances a crime, Lizzo happily welcomed some of the biggest names in drag to the stage during her performance. Needless to say, fans were living for it!

“Support your drag entertainers!” Lizzo can be heard saying in a video posted to her Instagram page. She captioned the post, “THANK YOU TO THESE BEAUTIFUL DRAG QUEENS FOR SHOWING THEIR PRIDE IN TENNESSEE.”

Fans of drag and those who watch “RuPaul’s Drag Race” will have recognized many of the faces they saw on stage that night. Vanessa Vance, Sandy Muse, Asia O’Hara, and Aquaria were just a few of the legendary drag queens taking the stage during the Lizzo concert. They sissied that walk, posed at the end of the stage like it was their personal runway, and were generally giving attitude the whole way through. It was an amazing thing to see.

Aquaria herself commented on the post, thanking Lizzo for her willingness to embrace drag and its performers. “Thank you so much for the platform for me and the drag race girls and especially for uplifting the queens on Tennessee! Those ladies are all so strong and brave and I know tonight was definitely the best of a tricky situation for everyone. Thanks for shedding light for our friends who definitely need our hand these days. We appreciate it,” she wrote.

The Human Rights Campaign also applauded the move, commenting, “We 🫶 drag and we 🫶 Lizzo 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜”

Needless to say, we agree!
