Man Dressed In Cat Costume Arrested For Stabbing Roommate In The Neck Alachua County Sheriff’s Office

A Florida man was arrested while dressed as a cat after he stabbed his roommate in the neck at their Gainesville home. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) received a 911 call from the victim, who was lying on the floor bleeding after the attack. Once authorities arrived, they found the suspect, 32-year-old Omar Gutierrez.

Bodycam footage released by authorities shows two deputies kicking the front door of the property open with guns drawn. It was unclear at the time whether or not Gutierrez was still armed, hence the need for the utmost caution.

The victim can then be heard chatting to officers back and forth while they try to determine where Omar Gutierrez and the knife he used to stab the victim might be. Soon after, the suspect comes out of a room in the property wearing a leopard onesie with his arms raised. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident and was later booked into Alachua County Jail on a $1 million bond. The victim’s condition isn’t known, but he’s expected to survive.

“Just after 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd, multiple Deputies responded to a single-family residence in Northwest Gainesville, where a male victim called 911 to report that he had been stabbed in the neck by his roommate,” the ACSO said in a Facebook post.

“Sheriff Watson wants to provide you with bodycam footage showing the courageous actions of two of our Deputy Sheriff’s, who forced entry into the home to ensure that they could extricate the severely injured male victim and ultimately take the suspect, Omar Gutierrez into custody without further incident.”

The statement added: “Gutierrez has been charged with 1 count of Attempted Murder and is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a 1 Million Dollar Bond. We exchanged Gutierrez’s cat costume for a green and white striped jumpsuit.”
