If you love surrounding yourself with lush greenery, chances are you already own a few succulents. The unique, low-maintenance plant is a popular choice for those of us who aren’t great at keeping plants alive as well as with those who actually have a green thumb. If you’re looking for a new addition to your collection, however, may I present the Purple Pearl succulent? It’s absolutely regal!
- Purple pearl succulents are native to Mexico. Known by the scientific name Echeveria ‘Purple Pearl,’ this succulent was originally grown in Mexico but can now be found pretty much everywhere in the world, meaning you can buy or grow your own wherever you are.
- You can grow them indoors or out. While many of us prefer to have plants all around us on bookshelves, desks, in the kitchen, etc., others love to tend outdoor gardens. Luckily for both types of people, you can grow Purple Pearl succulents indoors or out, making them a really versatile plant.
- The more sun you give your Purple Pearl succulent, the more intense their color. While the plant can grow in partial shade, giving yours plenty of sunlight will ensure that its rosettes get deeper, more intense purple colors. All the more reason to make sure they get plenty of rays!
- The rosettes get pretty big on these bad boys. ‘Purple Pearl’ succulents have rosettes that grow to nearly 12 inches in width, which is pretty impressive! Just make sure your soil is well-drained and the plants themselves don’t get too much water since they thrive more in drier conditions.
- Make sure you pull out any dead leaves. They occasionally pop up on the underside of the plant but they need to be removed in order to keep pests like weevils, aphids, and other mealy bugs. They’re not welcome here!
