Rachel McAdams Shows Off Armpit Hair After Asking For No Editing On Photos

Rachel McAdams is one of Hollywood’s most successful actresses. Over the years, she’s done hundreds if not thousands of photoshoots, and while it’s fun to get glammed up, she’s getting a bit sick of all the Photoshopping. As such, she asked Bustle photographers to ensure the pictures accompanying her feature be edited “as minimally as possible,” leaving her armpit hair on full display.

The “Mean Girls” actress doesn’t want to keep up the facade that many stars do. After all, perfection doesn’t exist, so why not embrace yourself as you are and show that to the world? While the public might not imagine Rachel McAdams (or any other female star) to have armpit hair, body hair is totally natural and nothing to be ashamed of or edited out. In other words, good for her.

“For Bustle’s photo shoot, she requested the images be edited as minimally as possible,” a note in Bustle’s interview with McAdams read. And as it turns out, she has an extra special reason for making that decision.

“With this shoot, I’m wearing latex underwear. But I’ve had two children. This is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back out to the world,” she told the publication. “It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone.”

Shaving is a drag, anyway. McAdams recalled advice her mom gave her about removing body hair when she was young, and she’s never forgotten it.

“Well, I’m going to give you the advice my — your mother — gave me,” she said. “Once you start, you can never stop’, and I remember rolling my eyes about that, and thinking, ‘Ugh, that’s not the fun answer,’ but it’s so true. Life is long once, shaving is intense, but if you’re gonna go ahead with it anyway, watch the ankle bones, the shins.”
