Selena Gomez’s Reaction To Chris Brown Being Nominated For A VMA Is Priceless MTV

We all know celebrities can be fake AF and love telling each other the sun shines out of their buttholes even if they really hate their guts. However, sometimes you get a dose of realness in Hollywood that’s so delicious that you can’t not love it. Take, for instance, the MTV VMAs. While it’s a shocker that this completely irrelevant and boring show still takes place every year, we must be grateful in 2023 because it brought us Selena Gomez’s disgusted reaction to hearing Chris Brown got a nomination.

  1. Sorry, but Chris Brown will always be terrible. For those who claim that his extremely violent assault on Rihanna in 2009 was ancient history, think again. He has repeatedly shown himself to be a walking garbage can. From faking his community service to arrests for felony assault on multiple occasions to threatening and beating ANOTHER ex-girlfriend (Karrueche Tran) to being accused of sexual assault by an unidentified woman… I mean, the list goes on and on.
  2. For some reason, he still has plenty of fans and defenders. Bring up any of his long list of offenses and fans and supporters will shut you down quickly, telling you that he’s a great guy and proclaiming that the world is out to get him when he could have been the next Michael Jackson (which, no, but whatever). However, it’s good to see that there are some people with working brains who realize how terrible he is.
  3. Selena Gomez is definitely not a Chris Brown fan. The “Calm Down” singer picked up an award for the track, but when she heard that Brown was up for a statue for his feature on Chloe’s “How Does It Feel” (which thankfully and rightfully lost to Sza’s “Shirt), the camera happened to catch her reaction and it was *chef’s kiss*.
  4. Selena is all of us. The camera on Gomez’s face, which she likely didn’t realize was there, caught her scrunching her nose in disgust as Brown’s name was read and looking to the side. She had a neutral expression as the rest of the nominees were read out and clapped and smiled when Sza’s name was announced.
  5. Needless to say, the internet has been having a field day with this. People took to social media to react to the clip, proclaiming Selena a “real one” for the move. “How could you not say mother,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Our Queen please!” another added. A third simply said, “Should’ve been everyone’s reaction.” Couldn’t agree more!
