Shauna Rae, the 23-year-old woman trapped in a child’s body, finally has a boyfriend… sort of. The star of TLC’s “I Am Shauna Rae” has struggled with romance due to being only 3’10” and weighing only 50 pounds — the result of chemotherapy she had as a child affecting her pituitary gland. However, she’s since met a guy named Dan who seems really great.
- Shauna Rae and her boyfriend Dan are in a long-distance relationship. On the show, she reveals that Dan slid into her DMs after seeing her story. The one problem is that he lives in Wales and she’s over in the U.S. However, he did come over to meet her and her family last year.
- She’s not sure how she feels about their connection. While Shauna Rae has always wanted a boyfriend, this situation isn’t really ideal. “I haven’t actually really thought about if Dan and I were in a relationship and how that would look,” she said. “I assume that we would probably try long-distance, but I’ve been in a long-distance relationship and it’s not my cup of tea. So, either he would have to find a settle-down place or I would have to start traveling with him.”
- In fact, Dan has asked Shauna to travel with him. However, she simply hasn’t been ready to commit. “It’s been a couple weeks since Dan visited me. We went on a couple of dates, which were great. But my feelings toward Dan are a little confusing. I’m playing it day by day,” she said in a confessional. “Whatever happens, happens.”
- Shauna’s parents think it would be great for her to get out and see the world. Letting their daughter venture out without them would be scary, but they think it would be a life-changing experience. “Dan taking Shauna out of the country, I think would be really cool. I think she’d have a good time,” her stepdad said. “I don’t think I’d be as concerned if Shauna went on a trip with Dan because she’s with Dan.” However, Shauna thinks when it came down to it, they wouldn’t actually be okay with it after all.
