Simone Biles was mistaken for a child and offered a coloring book by a flight attendant during a recent flight. The 25-year-old became the youngest ever recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom on July 7, but the staff on her flight home clearly didn’t recognize her and actually thought she was only a little girl.

  1. Biles shared the story on Instagram. The four-time gold medalist, who’s 4’8″, wrote: “Not the flight attendant trying to give me a coloring book when I board… I said ‘no I’m good, I’m 25.'”
  2. Thankfully, another flight attendant soothed the situation. Biles went on to say that “the other flight attendant gave me a mimosa so we’re in the clear.” That makes up for things a bit, I suppose!
  3. Biles’ post has since gone viral. YouTube star Matt Bernstein was particularly tickled with the story, tweeting: “I’m crying at the thought of a flight attendant giving Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, a coloring book because she is 4’8″.” His post has since been liked more than 140,000 times.
  4. Thankfully, Biles seems to have taken it all in her stride. However, perhaps people should be more sensitive and realize that you don’t need to meet a certain height requirement to be an adult. I bet that flight attendant is embarrassed now!
