It was a little less than a month ago when news broke that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up after a six-year relationship. It seemed a very low-key split, with gossip rags insisting that there hadn’t been any big blow-up and no one had cheated or anything. Things had simply run their course. However, many wonder if the “Lavender Haze” might have had someone else waiting in the wings to replace Alwyn. That’s because the new word on the street is that Taylor Swift is dating and “madly in love” with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
The British press has speculated that the pair have been dating for months. While Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have been friends for years, since back in 2014, things are said to have turned romantic over the past few months. According to The Sun, they’ve been dating seriously for a while now and they plan on going public with their romance this week. Looks like the tabloids have already done that job for them!
Healy has always expressed his admiration for Swift, at one point telling GQ, “I have said on countless occasions that I found her to be one of the most gracious, hard-working, creatively gifted, and beautiful women that I have had the pleasure to meet. I personally have a lot of respect and admiration for her. Why would I not?” However, he denied that they shared a romantic connection.
As for Swift, she did once wear a 1975 t-shirt, leading Healy to wear a ‘1989’ album shirt, which is apparently evidence of an affair between the musicians.
However, perhaps the most telling “clue” into Taylor Swift and Matty Healy’s alleged dating relationship is a photo posted by Healy’s mom and British TV icon Denise Welch back in January 2023. It was a picture of Welch posing with Swift backstage at The 1975’s show at the O2 in London.
The Sun claims that when Swift performs in Nashville on Friday, that’s when she’ll tell the world about how nuts she is about Healy. She just can’t help herself – she’s head over heels, according to an “insider” (read: intern tasked with coming up with nonsense quotes).
“She and Matty are madly in love,” the source claimed. “It’s super early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost 10 years ago, but timings just didn’t work out.”
The source was also very clear in pointing out that Swift didn’t cheat on Alwyn with Healy. Instead, Swift and Alwyn are said to have ended their relationship in February 2023, before she got involved with the rocker.
And if this source is anything to go by, we should plan to have Taylor Swift and Matty Healy’s romance plastered pretty much everywhere this time around.
“As two international megastars, they understand the pressures of one another’s jobs better than anyone, and are incredibly supportive of their respective careers,” they said.
“They are both massively proud and excited about this relationship and, unlike Taylor’s last one — which was very much kept out of the spotlight, deliberately — she wants to ‘own’ this romance, and not hide it away. Taylor just wants to live her life, and be happy. She’s told pals Matty is flying to Nashville over the weekend to support her on the next leg of her tour.”
