Teacher Changed Student’s Grade ‘From F to A’ After Having Sex With Her CCSDPD

A Las Vegas biology teacher reportedly changed a female student’s grade ‘from F to A’ after having sex with her. Lawrence Artl III taught at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, where he’s said to have passed the girl with flying colors after she slept with him. An investigation into the allegations was launched by CCSD police in February 2020, according to a press release from the Clark County School District, ultimately leading to his arrest earlier this month.

  1. Artl III is facing some serious charges. Upon his arrest, Artl III was handed some hefty charges that could lead to a long prison sentence. He faces one count of having a sexual relationship with a student over the age of 16 and two counts of preventing a person from testifying against him.
  2. The student was open about what happened between herself and Artl III. According to 8NewsNow, the unnamed student revealed that the teacher had been in her house twice and it was during the second encounter that they had sex. She added that on separate occasions, they had kissed in his car and that they repeatedly engaged in email and Snapchat communications, though it’s unclear what the content of these messages were.
  3. Artl III tried to cover everything up. After the investigation began, Artl is said to have instructed the girl to “delete everything” and to block him on Snapchat. It was around this time that he increased her grades, likely in a move to keep her quiet about what happened between them.
  4. It’s unclear how authorities became aware of the liason. However, Artl III entered a not guilty plea and he’s been ordered to have no contact with minors who aren’t direct relatives. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 23. He is not currently in prison and is allowed to remain in his own home until his court appearance.
