The Bae Basket Is The Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Gift Of Dreams

The Bae Basket Is The Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Gift Of Dreams

If you’re anything like us, you tend to wait until the last minute when it comes to buying holiday gifts. If you’re in a relationship, knowing that Valentine’s Day is around the corner is probably filling you with dread. Maybe you’re not sure what to get your partner. Or, maybe you’re just not into celebrating the commercialized holiday but still want to show them you care. Either way, the bae basket may be just what you need to make their day special.

What is a bae basket?

The bae basket is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It’s a gift basket that you fill with presents that you know your partner will like. It’s not strictly a Valentine’s Day thing, but this is the perfect time of year to make one to present them with.

The term was coined by Eli Rollo, aka @TheJarr on TikTok, who shared videos of herself putting together a bae basket for her own boyfriend. She threw in lots of stuff she knew he would enjoy. It’s important to note that none of the items in the basket were particularly expensive or grand. Instead, they were specially curated items that Eli’s boyfriend loves and would get use from.

What do you put in it?

The beauty of the bae basket is that there’s no one right way to make one. You’ll never find a definitive list of what to include. That’s because this is an extremely personalized gift. You fill up the basket with things you know your particular in particular will love. This can include (but is not limited to):

  • A few of their favorite snacks
  • A new pair of PJs
  • Items to help them relax — scented candles, face masks, etc.
  • A new video game
  • A book they’ve been meaning to read
  • A gift certificate to a local restaurant
  • A new bag of coffee/box of pods
  • A personal gift commemorating your relationship, such as a framed photo of the two of you
  • A stuffed animal

Much like the gifts you put within it, the actual composition of the basket is totally customizable based on your and your partner’s personal taste. In her TikTok video, Eli starts by putting crumpled-up paper resembling Easter grass in the bottom of the basket to line it. Then she fills in all the stuff she knows her boyfriend will appreciate, like Clif bars, wine glasses, and coffee creamer. She also adds a game they can play together and a thoughtful card.

It’s worth noting that it’s not all about what’s in the basket. You can play around with different vessels in which to put your presents. Don’t feel confined to standard basket shapes. You can even pick a box or other container that you know your partner will reuse afterward. Sentimental AND environmentally friendly!

The trend is really picking up on TikTok

Once Eli shared her own bae basket, loads of other users on the social media site decided to try the unique gift out for their own partners.

For instance, @kaylanoellesims decided to add in a puzzle and some Legos to treat her boyfriend. Meanwhile, @spawliv threw in a set of kitchen knives and some socks. We always need socks! @graci.daby hit up Target for loads of chocolate as well as some deodorant, lounge shorts, and a travel shaver for her bae. The options are literally endless.

Whatever you put in yours, no doubt it’ll be the best Valentine’s Day gift your partner has ever received.
