The One Simple Conversational Trick That Will Make Anyone Like You Immediately

I’ll be honest in saying that I don’t really care whether or not people like me. I try to be kind and show respect to everyone I meet, but I also don’t take crap and I’ll call you out if you step out of line. Of course it’s nice to be thought well of, but not at the cost of being inauthentic or having to hide your true self. That being said, if you’re someone who does really care about how people perceive you, that’s okay too! There’s nothing wrong with that. Luckily, there’s one conversational hack that will make anyone like you in under a minute. Yes, really.

At this point in your life, you’re probably well-versed in the art of conversation. You know that it’s all about back and forth. You have to be willing to share about yourself while at the same time knowing when to stop and truly listen to what the other person is saying. You’re not going to make anyone like you if you’re always cutting them off or you only talk about yourself. Same goes for if you expect the other person to carry the entire conversation. It’s a fine balance worth striking.

It’s easy to make pretty much anyone like you

So, what’s the trick here? Simply having good conversational skills doesn’t necessarily mean your chat partner will like you. To accomplish this, you have to up the ante a bit and do something extra special. That’s why you need to find a way to get them to talk about something they’re proud of or that gives them an opportunity to show off a bit.

Think about it: We want to be around people who make us feel good about ourselves. It’s just human nature. Well, one of the easiest ways to make someone feel good about themself is by giving them a chance to shine. You do this by setting them up to win.

It’s all about asking the right questions.

You likely ask people about themselves, but you have to ask the right questions to make this work. So, think about something in their life that they’re proud of, the adversity they overcame, or a major accomplishment they achieved. Ask them how they got there.

You’d be shocked at just how happy they’ll be to share about their experience in great detail. Don’t be surprised if you see their whole demeanor shift and their face light up as they talk about what they’ve accomplished.
