Woman Makes ‘Udder Butter’ Out Of Breast Milk And Her Husband Loves It

A TikToker has achieved what feels like the impossible (and the undesirable): she created butter out of her own breast milk. Laura Hall (@laurahall53) shared a clip with the caption “My crowning achievement” that showed a ziplock bag containing the creamy substance. It now has more than 1.5 million views.

  1. Why would anyone want to do this? That’s the first question I have. However, Laura’s just pleased that she could do it in the first place. “I’ve done it — I’ve made butter out of my breast milk,” she says, laughing in the video. “I don’t know if I’ve ever been more proud. There’s my butter — my butter, my udder butter.”
  2. She followed the initial video up with tutorials. In the follow-up videos, Laura reveals that she leaves a jar of her breast milk out so that the fat separates and floats to the top. She then skims the cream off and mixes it with an electronic whisk before dumping out the “butter” into a pat. Ahhh!!!
  3. People in her house have actually eaten this. In another clip, Laura and her husband taste test the “udder butter” by slathering it on toast. Her husband was actually into it and said he’d happily eat it, but Laura herself was not a fan. “To me, it tastes like, you know, when you burp and it kind of tastes like throw-up,” she said. Charming.
  4. Viewers really didn’t know what to make of it. Some commenters remarked that this is a clever and healthy thing to do, while others were impressed but pretty grossed out. Then there was a group of people who were just really disgusted by the very idea. To each their own, I suppose.
