102-Year-Old World War II Vet Credits Long Life To Drinking Coors Light Every Day

We’d all like to live long, happy, healthy lives, but not all of us are lucky enough to have that happen. One man who has been lucky enough to see out a full century is Andrew E. Slavonic, a World War II veteran who just turned 102 years old. How did he come this far? With a daily can of Coors Light, of course.

  1. Slavonic has always loved his Coor Light. He went viral just last year for drinking a can every day at 4 p.m. for over a decade, a story everyone loved. Now it turns out he believes the daily ritual isn’t just relaxing, it’s a life-saver.
  2. His son Bob got him into the brew. Andrew didn’t always drink Coors Light—he switched over roughly 15 years ago since Bob loved it so much. “In 1996, he actually started drinking regular Coors beer. He switched to Coors Light beer about 15 years ago. I think I am the one to blame for the switch because that is all that I have been drinking for about the past 25 years.”
  3. Andrew’s not just surviving, he’s thriving. While it’s safe to assume that by the time you hit 100 years old, you’re likely going to slow down a bit, that’s definitely not the case for Andrew. “He gets up at 8:30 every day and gets dressed and goes into the kitchen ready to cook his own breakfast,” Bob explained of his dad’s daily routine last year. “Later, after he makes his own lunch, he goes into his home office and reads through the daily newspaper. Around 4:00 p.m., he tells me that it is 4:00 p.m., and it is time for our beer. He gets his Coors Light from the garage beer fridge and enjoys a nice cold one. The bluer the mountains are on the can, the better.” Fair enough!
  4. His dedication has paid off. After Andrew’s love of Coors went viral last year, MillerCoors sent him a beer fridge and brought him out to Colorado to visit the company’s headquarters in person. He also got plenty of branded merch and apparel to share with his family and friends.
  5. Here’s to many more years of Andrew drinking his daily Coors. If it’s working for him, why not?
