12 Things A Guy Who’s Boyfriend Material Should Do After Making Love

A guy can spout a lot of nonsense leading up to making love as well as during the act itself. The only true way to know whether he’s REALLY worth investing in are the things he does after you’ve done the deed. This is the golden period where you can find out whether or not he’s a keeper. After all, he should at least do these things:

  1. Get you a glass of water If the first thing he thinks about after it’s over is your personal comfort, he’s worth keeping around. Love-making can be a tiring exercise and he wants to make sure you stay hydrated. It’s just a little way he’s showing that he cares.
  2. Cover you with a blanket Nothing will make your heart melt more than being covered with a blanket by the guy you like. It’s almost too much to handle—seriously, how cute can a person get? He obviously cares about more than just hooking up if he’s continuing to take care of you after the act. He wants to show you that he’s BF material and he’s doing a pretty good job of it.
  3. Pull you over to cuddle Usually, guys will pass out after making love, but the ones that REALLY care will fight their tiredness and pull you close for cuddling. He might even rub your back or massage your shoulders. He just wants to make sure you’re feeling good and that’s so adorable.
  4. Stay engaged Here’s the thing about guys during love-making: they can say the craziest things—things like “I love you” or “you’re the most beautiful girl in the world.” Afterwards, a lot of them will go quiet because now they’re worried about what they just said, how they acted and whether or not they’re leading you into thinking they like you when they really only want to sleep with you. It’s a whole host of complicated thoughts. However, If a guy can still stay engaged after the deed is done and things are still normal and cool, then he isn’t afraid of coming off as “smothering” you because he wants the relationship to progress to more serious ground.
  5. Clean up the mess He cares what you think of him and he definitely doesn’t want you thinking he’s a slob. If he grabs a towel to clean up immediately after sleeping together, he’s either a neat-freak or wants to show you how mature and responsible he is. Cute!
  6. Suggest you keep hanging out If the first thing he suggests after love-making is what the two of you should do next, then you know he’s a guy who’s worth investing your time in. He’s clearly not in this for just the intimacy—he wants to get to know you and thinks you’re pretty great actually…
  7. Ask how it was for you This rendezvous isn’t just about satisfying himself, it’s about mutual enjoyment, and even though he definitely peaked, he wants to make sure that you’re having a good time too. Most guys will just assume you’re good due to laziness or sheer rudeness but not him. He’s a keeper.
  8. Compliment you Guys can spew a lot of random remarks during the act, but if he’s telling you how beautiful and perfect you are after you’re done, then you know he’s telling the truth. He wants to make sure you like him and is also making sure you know he’s really into you.
  9. Ask what you feel like doing He puts your feelings first, so whether you want to just be alone for the day or go out for food or just keep laying in bed with him, he wants to make sure you get to do what makes you most comfortable. So nice!
  10. Make sure you got off He may be tired as a dog after making love but nevertheless, he makes it his mission to make you come. Even if it takes an hour, he doesn’t wanna be That Guy who just hits it and leaves because not only is that incredibly rude, he sees it as his responsibility to you as a future boyfriend.
  11. Just chill with you for a while Even if it isn’t serious, he doesn’t have “get the hell outta there” on his mind. He’s cool with chilling out in bed with you for a while and maybe even engages in some deep-minded pillow talk. Any other guy will either hop in the shower or come up with an excuse for why he has to leave, but not this guy. This guy wants to be your boyfriend for reals.
  12. Talk about what kinda intimate stuff he wants to do next time If you find yourself de-briefing the encounter the two of you just had, it’s a good sign that he wants to see you again but also that he feels comfortable enough talking about that kind of taboo stuff with you. A lot of guys will hold back talking about it in fear that you’ll think he’s creepy or is taking advantage of you. This guy trusts that you won’t judge him, and that’s a good sign.
