15 Signs You’re An Incredibly Patient Person

People sometimes think you’re lazy, apathetic, or passive, but that’s a misconception. You’re actually just a patient person who doesn’t let stress get in the way of their day. You’re okay with not receiving instant gratification and know that some of the best things in life are worth waiting for. Is this you?

1. You refuse to rush.

You’d rather take your time to plan ahead for your day so you don’t have to run late. There’s nothing that upsets you more than if you have to break a sweat during your race to work. You try to avoid unnecessary stress — it’s not a cool way to start the day. You plan in a bit of extra time so you never feel like you’re racing against the clock.

2. You’re a calming presence.

Because you’re patient and take your time, other people love to be around you. If they’re feeling stressed out and irritable, they’ll gravitate towards you because you’ve got a wonderful mellow vibe that helps them to stay calm. You’re never uppity or hyper; instead, you’re a beacon of chill.

3. You’ve got your emotions under wraps.

Just because you’re patient, it doesn’t mean you don’t feel a burst of irritation when something goes wrong. It just means that you can control your emotions in favor of staying patient. This is a useful skill that makes you deal with situations like an adult instead of throwing a fit every time something doesn’t go your way.

4. You can listen to your friends’ drama for hours.

Your patience makes you a great friend. When your bestie needs to offload their drama, you’ll happily sit in it for a while. You don’t rush them to solve their problems. You just listen for as long as it takes, which is refreshing and helpful. They leave the conversation feeling truly heard and like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders.

5. You embrace delays.

When you’re stuck in bad morning traffic or in a long line at the bank, you don’t let impatience get to you or cause your blood pressure levels to rise. You use delays to do fun stuff, like reading an interesting article or calling your mom to catch up. Flipping out about it isn’t going to make things go any faster anyway.

6. You let criticisms slide.

One of the best things about being so patient is that you don’t let people’s critical comments about you ruffle your feathers. So, if someone comments that you should break up with your partner or get a different job, you let them slide. You’ll be patient in the moment and deal with the comments later with a cool head.

7. You don’t rush through dating milestones.

You like to pace yourself in romantic relationships. You don’t try to hit all the dating milestones in a hurry to lock down your partner. You’d rather take your time and enjoy the slow burn, which enriches your relationship. If someone wants to rush you, it pushes you away.

8. You take your time to make decisions.

You don’t let time pressures get to you. If you’re facing a big decision, you’d rather take your time to sort through your feelings and decide on the best course of action. If you miss the opportunity because of time constraints, you feel like it’s a blessing in disguise.

9. You give people lots of chances.

You’re patient with others because you try to look for their positive traits. If they make a mistake or hurt you, you’ll give them a second or third chance, as long as they apologize. You’re patient with people and encourage them to better themselves. You know everyone is a work in progress so you’re happy to cut them some slack.

10. You distract yourself when waiting for results.

Whether it’s your work review or blood test results that you’re waiting for, you know they can be nerve-wracking. However, you don’t let yourself get caught up in overthinking. Instead, you’re a master at distracting yourself and living in the moment. Things will work out as they’re meant to in the end.

11. You’re a good communicator.

When chatting to others, you don’t interrupt them while they’re speaking or try to cut in with your thoughts. You’re an excellent listener and will take the time to let people express themselves. You’d be a great psychologist!

12. You try to understand others before judging them.

You’re patient enough to slow down and try to understand people before you make any judgments about their situation. Instead, you try to think about the situation from their perspective and try to understand their feelings because you’re so empathetic. Reserving judgment until you have all the info is definitely one of your best qualities.

13. You find the light side of challenges.

Challenges happen to everyone, but you don’t let impatience cause you to stress out or feel anxious about them. You always try to find the bright or light side of having obstacles in your path, and you know that sooner or later, they’ll pass.

14. You’re a chilled dater.

When hitting the dating game, you’re patient enough to stop and let things happen naturally. Instead of analyzing the other person’s texts or trying to figure out if they’re interested in you, you wait it out and see what happens. You’re a zen dater, and it makes dating so much more fun.

15. You say, “It’s all part of the process.”

When things take time to come to fruition, you like to say that it’s all part of the process. You don’t try to rush through the process to get to the finish line. You know that the process in itself is worth exploring ’cause it can teach you so much about yourself.
