Getting a guy’s attention is one thing, but keeping it is a whole other ball game. Things might be hot and heavy at first, but more often than not the spark fades within a couple of months through no fault of your own. As a guy, let me just say that I understand your struggle. Most of us are either stubborn or oblivious, and few of us have a long attention span. That being said, here are a few things you could try to keep him hooked.
- Be confident. I know it’s sometimes easier said than done, but when in doubt, just show a guy that you’re confident and comfortable with yourself. Most guys can sense insecurity, and unless he’s chasing a one-night stand, it’s going to be a turn-off for him. The type of guys who will be open to dating you without playing games will want a woman who’s confident and comfortable in her own skin. We don’t want someone who’s needy and insecure. Plus, being confident makes it seem like there’s something special about you. Guys will be attracted to that for sure.
- Show that you know him. Guys crave understanding when it comes to women. One of the best ways to get a guy’s attention is to show that you know what makes him tick. This means using your powers of observation to make an astute assessment that might not be obvious to everyone. If you show him that you understand him, he’ll be impressed and intrigued. He’ll also be more likely to want to be with you long-term.
- Cook for him. Things become a cliche for a reason, and this one holds plenty of water. If you want to make your way to a man’s heart, go through his stomach. At the very least, it’ll get his attention. If you can cook a decent meal, he will definitely be impressed. You could also give the “friend” you like a plate of killer brownies as your method of reeling him in. After that, if you can master a dish that he loves, he’ll be in no rush to leave.
- Break the touch barrier. Being the one to physically reach out and give him physical affection first is a sure winner. It will take a lot of pressure off him by letting him know you like him. Creating a little bit of mystery about yourself will help get his attention. The goal most of the time should be to show your interest and then make him come to you.

Being spontaneous makes you seem exciting and interesting to be around. Of course, you need to maintain that spontaneity to keep a guy hooked. I mean, don’t go overboard and make everything about him. Just keep in mind that men like being a heroic figure who’s admired. It’s simple but true.
- Take charge in bed. Guys are used to taking the lead in bed, so turning the tables will definitely get his attention. It will show him that you’re different from other women. I can’t guarantee that all guys will be cool with this, but most of us find it super-hot when a woman makes the first move. Of course, it helps to keep looking for ways to take the lead in bed and try new things. This should help keep a guy’s attention and keep both of you happy.
