American Woman Shocked By Differences At Australian McDonald’s

An American woman currently living down under was shocked by the differences between Australian McDonald’s and the restaurants back home. Annika Swanson, a TikTok influencer, is studying abroad in Sydney and decided to head to her local Mickey D’s with a few expat friends. However, she was less than impressed with the offerings.

  1. Australian McDonald’s has some different things on the menu. For one thing, they offer something described as “potato scallops with chicken salt” which sounds ridiculously good. They also have loads of toasted sandwiches like ham and cheese and cheese and tomato. As for dessert, you can order more than an apple pie. They also have banana bread and chocolate macarons!
  2. Things are a lot more expensive, however. Annika was shocked to discover how pricey things are at Australian McDonald’s. “I cannot get over the McChicken is $7.35. It’s way cheaper in America. You also can’t get McChickens after certain times. Oh brother,” she says as she scrolls through the menu. Even her three-piece Chicken McNuggets came to $4.35.
  3. The food does at least taste the same. Annika confirmed that her McNuggets tasted exactly as they do back home, which is something McDonald’s has always strived for. However, her friends had complaints about how little sauce they were given and how tiny the portions were.
  4. Commenters had a few tips for Annika if she ever wanted to go back for another taste of home. “One thing about Australian McDonald’s is you can literally ask for anything, and they will give it to you. Any hack, any sauce, anything,” one person wrote. Another added: “Depending on the type of Maccas you go to, you can get chicken & cheeses for $2. Just gotta know when and where.”
