Britney Spears’ Husband Shares Sad Reason She Quit Instagram

Britney Spears’ Husband Shares Sad Reason She Quit Instagram Instagram/Sam Asghari/Britney Spears

Earlier this week, Britney Spears deactivated her Instagram profile without warning. While it’s not the first time she’s done so and likely won’t be the last, fans were worried about her well-being. Their concerns prompted Spears’ husband, Sam Asghari, to reveal why the singer left the social media platform for now.

Asghari claimed the reason she quit is that Britney Spears was “traumatized” by Instagram. One imagines her trauma actually stems from the mental health issues and conservatorship battle she faced against her father, Jamie Spears, for nearly 15 years and only recently resolved. However, Asghari pointed the finger at social media and asked Spears’ fans to avoid becoming “overprotective.”

“Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it’s good to take a break. She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times,” Asghari wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Thank you to all of her protective fans.”

He added that in a bid to respect his wife’s decision, he’ll never post Spears on his account without asking her. “Out of respect for her privacy, I don’t post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do,” he said. “I’ve always respected and supported her privacy with everything I’ve had. I ask of you supportive and protective fans to do the same. Sometimes being overprotective can cause more stress and damage.”

Given that Britney Spears has deactivated her Instagram page four times in five months, it’s likely she’ll be back. However, even if she doesn’t reactivate, fans should be most concerned about her well-being. Social media can be mentally and emotionally taxing for the best of us, so she needs to do whatever is necessary to protect her health. We don’t know her personally, nor her struggles behind closed doors. It’s important that fans don’t act like they do.
