I used to be uncomfortable doing things on my own but these days, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only am I comfortable going it alone, I actually prefer it. In fact, my bucket list is full of things for just me, myself, and I.
- I want to travel the world. Sure, I could do this with friends or a romantic partner, but to me there’s nothing more exciting than thinking about seeing some of the most beautiful and inspiring cities of the world all on my own. I want to expand my mind and my worldview by experiencing places and cultures I can’t even fathom at the moment and I want to do it solo.
- I want to learn to speak a new language. Obviously this will require some interaction with other people if I actually want to be good at it, but I’d love to learn French and I have grand ideas of walking the streets of Paris and stopping at a cafe, ordering my baguette and latte in French, being super glamorous and worldly. And yes, I want to do that solo.
- I want to build something with my hands. I’m not necessarily the most industrious person, but I’d really love to get to a point one day where I can build something real and amazing. I don’t mean a birdhouse or some little crafty thing but something real and substantial like a house or even a wardrobe for my bedroom or something.
- I want to make a million dollars. I know it sounds crazy but I don’t think it’s impossible. After all, there are plenty of self-made millionaires out there in the world, so why can’t I be one of them? I’m a hard worker and I’m certainly very motivated so I don’t see why I can’t make this happen, even if it takes me 50 years.
- I want to run a marathon. I do run a couple of times a week but I wouldn’t say I’m ready to run a marathon. That will take months and months of training and a lot of preparation. However, I can’t imagine a more amazing feeling than finally crossing the finish line after 26.2 miles. I’d better get started on my training!
- I want to buy my own house. I want to find a place that just screams “home” to me and I want to get the mortgage sorted and sign my name on the dotted line and know that I own my own house. I’m not saying I’ll never have anyone live with me, but this is something I really want to accomplish on my own.
- I want to repay my student loans in their entirety. There was a point in my life when I was basically sure I’d die with some student debt, but now I’m just not content with that. I want to work hard and pay back more than the minimum every month (which I’m currently doing) so that I can get my debt down to zero ASAP.
