Confused About How To Actually Drink A Pornstar Martini? We’ve Got You

When you go out at the weekend, there’s nothing better than enjoying some great music and delicious cocktails with friends on girls’ night. However, if you’re a fan of the pornstar martini, there’s always the question about the order in which you’re supposed to drink it. After all, that little shot of prosecco shouldn’t be wasted, but what are you meant to do with it? Don’t be confused — here’s how to drink a pornstar martini the way it’s meant to be done.

The pornstar martini is many people’s favorite because it combines a lot of tasty ingredients into an even tastier drink: passionfruit puree, vanilla syrup, vodka, sparkling wine, passion fruit liqueur, and citrus, to be specific. However, it also comes with a little shot of prosecco for good measure, and many people don’t really know what to do with it.

Thankfully, The Cocktail Co. director Abby Matthews is here to shed some light on how to drink a pornstar martini the right way. “[It’s] the perfect combination of passionfruit, vanilla, vodka and citrus, so it has a very sweet yet tangy flavor,” she says. “It is served best with a Prosecco chaser and garnished with half a passionfruit.”

So, what about the Prosecco chaser? Don’t just pour it into your drink, Matthews says. Instead, enjoy it as its own thing before you start drinking the martini so you get the full flavor.

“Little do people know, the Prosecco shot should actually be sipped before drinking the pornstar martini, to cleanse the palette before enjoying the cocktail,” she says. If you’ve been shotting the Prosecco before, after, or even pouring it in — you’re doing it wrong! Pouring the Prosecco can actually ruin the flavors — it alters the taste as it unbalances how the ingredients complement each other.”

As for drinking your prosecco after the martini, Matthews says that’s silly too. “Who’d want to cleanse their palette after such a delicious drink?” Touche!
